Hingis looking forward to play in Kolkata

Swiss tennis star Martina Hingis will take part in the Sunfeast Open WTA tournament to be held in Kolkata from September 18.

The youngest Gland Slam winner Hingis, who made a comeback to tennis last year and quickly moved up the ranking ladder to notch up the 13th spot among women players, confirmed her participation saying she is excited about prospects of playing in India.

"I have heard a lot about Indian tradition and the excitement the WTA tournament is creating in the country. I am very excited to play in front of passionate tennis fans of Kolkata. I can't wait for September," Hingis said.

Her participation is going to enhance the stature of the tournament as well as attract more people to the annual meet.
