A 45-year-old woman was killed, while four others suffered minor injuries in a Lancer-Sumo collision near Barwala here on Monday morning.
The deceased woman has been identified as Leela Devi, a resident of Sector 14 in Hisar. Her husband Tara Chand is a local Congress politician and a property dealer. The accident took place when the family was on its way from Chandigarh to Hisar.
The police said the Sumo driver had lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the Lancer, which was coming from Chandigarh side on the Hisar-Chandigarh highway near Barwala.
The incident was reported around 10.30am. The woman died while being taken to the Civil Hospital, while others, including Tara Chand, his driver and two occupants of Tata Sumo, suffered minor injuries.
The police said further investigations were being carried out.
