The historic Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday returned with 23 passengers on board after paying obeisance at the birthplace of Guru Nanak in Pakistan.
The people who crossed the Wagah-Atari joint check post and crossed into Lahore were accorded a warm welcome to the 'Punj Aab' bus touched the soil Pakistani soil on Friday, Punjab Transport Minister Mohinder Singh Kaypee said on his return this afternoon.
He said all the 41 passengers on board the 'Punj Aab' bus paid obeisance at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev, in Shekhupura district of Pakistan last evening.
Of the 23 who returned, seven were passengers and the rest Punjab Government officials.
The first Pakistani bus from Nankana Sahib to Amritsar is scheduled to make its trip on March 28 with Pakistani passengers and officials.
