Three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists belonging to Barmullah in the Kashmir valley joined CRPF and were put on duty at Manmohan Singh's official residence on Race Course Road, a news channel claimed on Tuesday night.

According to the channel, Gulzar Ahmad Lone, Mansur Ahmed and Mehrajuddin had been trained in PoK and had surrendered to the authorities in 1990 and thereafter joined the CRPF.

The channel claimed that they had been put on duty outside the Prime Minister's residence and their antecedents were discovered after a carbine went missing from the Prime Minister's residence in 2004.

An FIR was filed by head constable Raj Kumar in this connection, who was later compulsorily retired, while the three terrorists were still serving, the channel said.

Strongly denying the channel's story as "totally baseless and distorted", CRPF Director General JK Sinha said that an inquiry was conducted into the issue of the missing carbine and the head constable responsible for it was dismissed.

They were all questioned after the carbine went missing in 2004 and were given a clean chit, he said, adding that they were now fighting the ULFA insurgents in Dibrugarh in Assam. However, CRPF would verify the antecedents of the three once again.
