The Faridabad police have registered a case of culpable homicide (not amounting to murder) against kidney kingpin’s aide Dr Upendra Dublish and manager Jaswant for the death of three Turkish nationals. Police have arrested Jaswant while Dr. Upendra is in judicial custody in Moradabad jail.
The three Turkish nationals, aged between 55 and 65, had died during kidney transplant procedures at Dr Amit’s clinic in Sector 23, Gurgaon between 2003 and 2005. But Dr Upendra had misrepresented their death as natural and said they died of cardiac arrests.
Faridabad SSP Alok Mittal said a case under section 304 and 34 of IPC was registered against Dr Upendra and Jaswant on Wednesday on the
basis of the investigation report prepared by the two-member team of Civil Hospital in September 2006.
“After going through the report, a team led by DSP (Crime) confirmed the duo were responsible for the deaths of three Turkish nationals in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Despite the fact that Dr Upende had no cardiac care facility and expertise, he admitted the trio in his hospital in Bhallabgarh and did not refer them to better hospitals,” he added.
Just recently, Harpal, Dr Upendra’s driver, disclosed to the Gurgaon police that Mehmet Bayzit (55) died on October 2, 2003, Ishmat Gurmer (62) on November 13, 2004 and Ahmet Yalidiram (65) on November 15, 2005 during kidney transplant procedures in sector 23.

{{/usCountry}}SSP Mittal said after the series of deaths, the Turkish Embassy had moved the Government of India in March 2006 requesting inquiry into the deaths. The Haryana government had deputed two-member team to conduct an inquiry into it.
According to Harpal, Dr Upendra had misrepresented the facts saying the Turkish men had suffered cardiac arrest during transit on national highway - 2 and were rushed to his Bhallabgarh-based Sri Ram Hospital where they died. No post mortem of the bodies was conducted as these deaths were shown as natural deaths.
The CMO in his report had, however, questioned why the three were rushed to Sri Ram Hospital when there were other better hospitals along the way. Investigation also found that Dr. Upendra’s hospital did not have a cardiac centre nor could the doctor produce ECG reports of the deceased.
