The main demand of the students was to allow first year students (semester of 18 months) of two earlier batches (2001-02/2002-03), who had been given wrong benefits of ATKT rules, to appear for the second year exam this year.

The university has been maintaining that this cannot be allowed without the written permission of the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH).

Interestingly, two factions of students, one under the banner of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and other another under the Homoeo Vision Medical Students’ Association literally confronted each other on the university premises regarding the leadership of the agitation, making the scene more noisy and confused.

While for some time, the two factions appeared to be united in their stand and demand, they were seen confronting each other loudly for other part of time.

“It was made quite clear to students that if they manage to get the written permission from the CCH by April 20, only then would they be allowed to write the exams,’’ Professor Sirohi told the Hindustan Times.

He said other students of second, third and final years, who had cleared their supplementary exams, had already been given permission to appear in the consecutive year’s exam and thus that issue was solved. However, without the permission of CCH, students of earlier batches will not be allowed for the exams.
