Honouring kin of Indira Gandhi's assassin by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) at Golden Temple is condemnable, Punjab unit of Congress said on Friday.
"Honouring an assassin at a holy place like Harmandir Sahib is condemnable," Punjab Congress general secretary Arvind Khanna said.
Khanna asked the SAD-BJP ally whether their involvement in the honouring meant that they approved of what the assassins had done.
Akali Dal could not turn a blind eye to what is being done by the SGPC, Khanna said, adding that not only does the Akali Dal control the SGPC, but it is also in power in Punjab.
The Congress leader also questioned BJP's silence over the issue.
"Political affiliations apart, the BJP should come clear on its stand on the honouring of the killers of a prime minister," he said.
