The hooch tragedy continues to unfold in Ahmedabad with the death toll climbing to 111 in four days while over 200 people were still undergoing treatment at various hospitals.
"The death toll in the hooch tragedy has reached to 111, while 222 people are still admitted in various hospital of Ahmedabad," police officials said.
The spurious liquor that has claimed 111 lives in the city had come from Mehamdabad in neighbouring Kheda district about 35 km from here, city crime branch officials investigating the case said today.
"A consignment of spurious brew had been brought in the city from Mehamdabad and distributed in different parts of the city," a crime branch official told PTI.
The bandh call by Congress had a partial affect as some of the schools and colleges remained closed.
Congress workers also ransacked a BJP office on the outskirts of the city after which around 20 workers were detained and later released by police.
