“I will wait for a few more days. Probably the (Bharatiya Janata Party) central leadership was busy with the Rajya Sabha and assembly elections. It is all over now. I hope they will take a decision on their promise now,” he said at a press meet.

However, Yeddyurappa did not set a deadline for his reinstatement this time. “The (Karnataka) high court has cleared me in the case of the lokayukta report on illegal mining. I will wait for the high command’s decision without setting any time limit.”

Yeddyurappa, who had led the BJP to power in Karnataka and headed the party's first government in the south, also flexed his muscles while promising to take up the cause of people in the state's drought-affected districts.

Speaking on the plight of the drought-affected people, he said, “When I was the chief minister, there was no drought situation. By the grace of God, there were good rains throughout the state during my three-and-a-half-years tenure,” he said.
