Some of the good wishes on Orkut for Minal Panchal, a 27-year-old Mumbaikar and student of Virginia Tech who is missing since the shooting on Monday and feared dead. Minal was last seen at a class in Norris Hall, where a South Korean student gunned down 32 persons before turning the gun on himself.
The police are yet to release a complete list of the dead and injured. Minal's name is not among those that have been released so far.
The daughter of an architect father who died four years ago, Minal graduated from Bandra’s Rizvi College.
“I just got through to Minal’s mother. Her family don’t even know if she is alive,” said Anila, a friend of Minal’s mother. Minal’s mother is reportedly in the US visiting her elder daughter.
Minal’s friend of 12 years Vibhuti Sarmalkar said: “I just hope she is safe.” Other friends said her phone was switched off.
