Police had to resort to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the troublemakers and also nabbed two of them for disturbing the peace.

Sources said a newcomer was allotted room number 50 by the varsity for the current academic year. When he went to the room to take possession, some illegal inmates, already residing in the room, entered into an altercation with him and beat him up.Upset, the victim reported the matter to hostel warden Dr Ram Sevak Dubey and also submitted a written complaint. The warden immediately issued notices to the illegal inmates.

This angered them and they entered into an altercation with the warden and hurled abuses at him. The troublemakers then tried to put up a road block.

On being contacted, AU Proctor Prof Jata Shankar said, “The cops have detained two of the troublemakers. Some of them were drunk. We are determined to evict all illegal inmates from the AU hostels and legal action will be taken against all who disturb peace,” he warned while confirming the incident.
