"Apologise, otherwise the House will not function," CPI(M)'s leader in Lok Sabha Basudev Acharia threatened.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for over three hours yesterday when the entire opposition demanded an apology from the Trinamool Chief Whip for "hurling expletives" at Acharia during a discussion on the Mumbai suburban railway motormen's strike.

Acharia alleged that whenever CPI(M) members used to speak, the Trinamool MPs used to disrupt proceedings.

"Whenever we try to say something, they start shouting and interrupt. They are doing this from the beginning," the CPI(M) MP from West Bengal's Bankura told reporters.

He said the CPI(M) MPs will request Speaker Meira Kumar to ask Bandopadhyay to apologise.

Acharia yesterday said he had been in the House for 30 years but had "never seen such behaviour. In fact, I never expected such a behaviour when Bandopadhyay moved forward menacingly."
