Niti Agarwal, the daughter-in-law of the Pilibhit royal family who is now serving life term in the Gurgaon district jail, had hatched the conspiracy to kill her husband, Aditya Kumar, from her rented DLF City apartment. She had been staying in the flat on rent, under a fictitious name, Naina Verma, since December 2006.
According to the police, they were able to crack the case after analysing the call records of Niti and the victim. The police said the woman had made calls to the deceased on the day of his murder in 2007.
A Gurgaon court on Tuesday awarded life sentence to all the four accused. The victim's body was stashed in a TV carton and dumped near Behror on NH-8 while his SUV was burnt in Gwalior. The deceased belonged to the royal family of Pilibhit and was the son of Ram Nath.
According to public prosecutor Vishal Gupta, main accused Niti Agarwal had personally received Aditya Kumar at Silver Oaks in DLF City. “Cook Nandlal also used to visit the apartment. On July 29, 2007, Niti called her estranged husband to her flat. Her accomplices strangulated Aditya to death and his body was stashed in a box and disposed it off,” said Gupta. He said the victim was killed at 11am.
He said the case was a complicated one and the probe spread to five states.
According to police, Aditya's apprehension of Niti having extramarital relations with Nandlal was confirmed when his children, studying in a well known school in Dehradun had witnessed something “unusual” between their mother and the cook. The children had told their father about it.
