HP reduces minimum fare from Rs 5 to Rs 3

Faced with criticism for 30 % hike in bus fare, giving partial relief to commuters, state government, state cabin et on Saturday gave its approval to reduce the minimum bus fare from Rs. 5 to Rs. 3 up to three kilometres.

Faced with criticism for 30 % hike in bus fare, giving partial relief to commuters, state government, state cabin et on Saturday gave its approval to reduce the minimum bus fare from Rs. 5 to Rs. 3 up to three kilometres.

Earlier, government had increased minimum fare from RS.2 to Rs. 5 and general fare by 30% that has drawn flak from the opposition parties.

Cabinet also approved to award the remaining work of widening and strengthening of Theog- Hatkoti- Rohru road of Shimla's rich apple belt.

Cabinet further okayed institution of Himachal Pradesh mahila vikas protsahan-2013, following the announcement made by Chief Minister on international women day.

Under this scheme, Himachal women above the age of 18 would get cash prize of Rs 21000 for making outstanding contributions in the field of Health, education, social services, sports, art and culture.

Approval was accorded to regularize admissions in various courses of bachelor of technology (B.Tech) including bio-technology, food-technology and Bio-Informatics, besides, Master of technology, Bachelor of pharmacy, master of pharmacy and Master in business administration (MBA) and Diploma courses made by various private universities, colleges and polytechnics in accordance with the minimum educational qualification set by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) and concerned regulatory bodies up to August 15.

Further it accorded approval for the amendment in development plan for Dharmshala and designated director of town and country planning as the competent authority for permitting change of land use for restricted and other areas of the plan.

Meanwhile, cabinet also approved to accept the proposal of Uttar Pradesh government for payment of Rs. 157 crore against power sold to them with late payment surcharge of 6 % on the principal amount.

Cabinet decided to keep creation and up-gradation of administrative divisions with the general administration department (GAD), besides it decided to upgrade the post of Chief Engineer -Project in irrigation and public health department to the post of engineer-in-chief -Project to be located at Shahpur in Kangra district.

Cabinet also approved to amend and frame new recruitment and promotion rules for the post of joint labour commissioner (Gazetted Class-I) in the department of labour and employment.
