Director general of police (DGP) SN Vashisht said on Monday that the special course would start from October 1, wherein the trainees would be sensitised on the subject of law and order and different mechanism to control it effectively.
The DGP was at the HPA for the passing-out parade of a batch of 115 serving sub-inspectors from Meghalaya, including 25 women.

Also, 341 newly recruited constables of the Haryana Police, including 32 women, participated in the parade.

Meghalaya police officials had completed one-year course at HPA.

"HPA has emerged as a leading police training institute where policemen from not only various Indian states but also from neighbouring countries are being sent. Our trainers need special appreciation for preparing curriculum that builds a tough police force," said the DGP.

He told mediapersons that the state police had decided to open 12 women police stations across the state.

The DGP said that crime and criminal tracking and network system (CCTNS), which was taken as a pilot project in 47 police stations, had given encouraging response in handling crime.

"Now, we have planned to introduce CCTNS in the entire state. The process to purchase hardware for this programme is underway, while the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) will provide the software," Vashisht added.
