A MEMBER of the Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission on Wednesday visited the office of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust to inquire into the complaints lodged by former State minister Shatrudra Prakash.

He had complained about the displacement of two metal idols from the temple. There were some other complaints which have not been disclosed by the commission.

Member SVM Tripathi, the officials said visited the office of the temple and had a thorough discussion with the officials on the issues raised by the complainant.

Later, talking to reporters, Tripathi declined to comment on the issue saying that the Commission was examining the matter. He even refused to disclose the issues raised in the complaint. "After examining the nature of the complaint, the Commission would decide whether the issue needed to be handled by one man commission or should the two member bench deal it,” he said.

Commenting on the nature of complaints the State Human Rights Commission receives, Tripathi said that land related complaints and police inaction topped the list of complaints.

“There is no department left against which complaints are not received,” he said and defined Human Rights elaborately.
