The condition of noted filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee, undergoing treatment for kidney ailment at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for the past eight days, is stable, hospital sources said on Tuesday.

"His vital parameters are stable but he continues to be in the ICU," hospital spokesperson Vaishali Rajpara said.

He is on ventilator support, she said adding that if his condition continues to be stable for the next few days, then he may be shifted out of the ICU.
Mukherjee, 83, who has given Bollywood some of its most memorable films like Anand, Golmaal and Chupke Chupke, was admitted to the hospital in suburban Bandra on June 6.
Since then, he has been in the ICU and on dialysis.
