Stating this here on Saturday, Haryana transport commissioner, Sumita Misra said there were reports that some goods vehicles were being used to carry passengers in the state and 65 such vehicles had been challaned in this year.

The Supreme Court had in its recent judgment, also directed the states and their authorities to take sufficient precautions to ensure that in order to prevent accidents, vehicles which are not authorised to carry persons, should not be utilised for the said purpose.

She said that it had been observed that the owners of the goods carrier are indulged in the practice of carrying passengers just to make some profits at the cost of the precious human life.

A public notice had also been got published by the department for the information of all concerned to avoid using the goods carrier for carrying passengers as it endangers the security of the passengers being carried in goods vehicle.
