Residents were scared to step into these parks after sundown, as there was no proper lighting.

Earlier, authority chief executive officer Rama Raman called upon officials to repair defunct lights in the parks. He told HT that funds won't be a limiting factor for making city parks safe.

According to officials, only 276 of 419 parks in Noida have proper lighting.

Chief maintenance engineer Hom Singh Yadav said, “I have directed my staff to ensure that all parks in the city are properly illuminated. We have already started the work.”

The official said a park should ideally have at least 10 lamps. However, major parks such as Meghdootam and D-Park have more than 300 lamps each.

Meanwhile, project engineer SK Gupta said, “We have installed sodium lamps in a few parks. Nearly 120 lamps have been repaired so far.”
