Speeding up the process, the authorities have inducted JCB machines (earthmovers) for earth-filling work and boundary walls have been erected to protect the park’s outer peripheries.

Also, leakage points in all sewer pipelines are being repaired.

Besides this, a plan is being chalked out to improve green cover inside the park. Along with grass, several flowers will be sown in the park once the renovation work completed.

The revamp work will be monitored by Huda administrator Praveen Kumar.

Hindustan Times had repeatedly highlighted the poor condition of the park, which is under the jurisdiction of Huda.

Heeding to the request of the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), Kumar visited the park about one-and-a-half-weeks ago and issued directions to executive engineer Naresh Pawar, asking him to prepare an estimate at the earliest.

“We showed him various clippings from Hindustan Times. He immediately asked the executive concerned to check the leakage in sewer pipelines,” said Ramesh Vasistha. Sources said the sump well had become a big nuisance as it used to overflow and had spoilt the park.

There is a tennis court adjoining the park and players have also complained about stench emanating from the park.

“I will take serious measures and the park will be revamped in less than a month,” assured the Huda administrator.
