The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) seized a huge cache of explosives from a Bihar village on Friday, just nine days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Gaya.
The seized items included 1,000 high power gelatin sticks, four cylinder bombs, six detonators and other explosive materials. No arrests have been made so far.The operation was conducted in Imamganj area which is around 70km from Gaya. CRPF sources said this is the first time explosives were found in this area. Earlier, such seizures were made from Chakarbandha area only.

"The place where the cache was hidden seemed to have been used by Maoists as an explosives dump. Investigations are being conducted to trace the trail of the gelatin sticks and the cylinder bombs. Nobody has been arrested in this connection so far," said Gaya SSP Manu Maharaaj.

{{/usCountry}}Gaya, considered a hotbed of Maoist activities in Magadh range, has seen violent incidents in which police and paramilitary personnel have been killed or maimed in the recent past.
Security forces have also arrested and encountered a few Maoists and recovered arms, ammunition, explosives and propaganda material from them.
Joint team of police and the paramilitary forces have launched special combing operations ahead of the PM's rally at Gaya on August 9 and forthcoming Assembly polls, the police said.
