Doctors at the MY Hospital, where around 50 patients have been admitted, said the condition of none of them was very serious. Most of the victims of the food poisoning were from the groom’s side and had come from Bhilwara and Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Iqbal and his wife Nafisa, who had come with the groom from Bhilwara, pointing at themselves said that not everyone who had taken food had fallen ill. He looked fine and so did Nafisa, but they had come to the MY Hospital with relatives who were affected.

Iqbal, who is the groom’s uncle, said that they had come to take part in the marriage of Abeda, daughter of Babu Bhai ‘Kabjewala’ of Ranipura and Wahid Hussain, the groom, who hails from Bhilwara. The Nikah ceremony was held at around 1 pm and people started eating at around 2 pm. The first signs of trouble started at around 5 pm when people, especially women and children, started vomiting and having loose motions.

At MY Hospital, all patients had been admitted to Ward Nos 25, 26 and 28. Many were groaning with pain and complaining that the doctors were not attending to them properly.
