A Hurriyat spokesman said that a two-day programme would be observed on the anniversary. "On July 12, a seminar titled '13 July 1931- Starting chapter of Kashmir freedom struggle' will be convened at Hurriyat headquarters in Rajbagh," said the spokesman.

Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other separatist leaders will participate and pay homage to the martyrs.
Several civilians were killed on July 13, 1931 in a major uprising against the monarchy in Jammu and Kashmir. Mainstream leaders also pay homage to these civilians on the occasion.

"A peaceful rally will be taken out from Jamia Masjid after the afternoon prayers up to Mazar Shohada Naqashbandh Sahab," said the Hurriyat spokesman.

The authorities, in the past, placed Hurriyat leaders under house arrest on such occasion to avoid protests.
