Hurriyat leaders from Jammu and Kashmir arrived in Pakistan on Thursday to extend their support for President Pervez Musharraf's proposed four-point solution to the conflict over the Himalayan region, news reports said.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), a group representing the Muslim population of Kashmir mainly, told journalists at the Lahore airport that India was now also showing flexibility in its stance on the territory.
He said Kashmiri leaders from both sides must be included in the dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad to resolve the lingering dispute, according to the ARY One World news channel.
The APHC delegation is due to meet the Pakistani leadership to represent the local Kashmiri population's point of view as New Delhi and Islamabad work out a settlement.
President Musharraf in December 2006 proposed a joined supervision mechanism involving India, Pakistan and Kashmir. Other suggestions included the phased withdrawal of troops in the region and self-governance for Kashmiris.
