"Hurriyat Conference's decision will be in the interests of the people of the state," Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said at a function which was organised to mark the death anniversaries of his father Moulvi Mohammad Farooq and amalgam's slain leader Abdul Gani Lone.

The Hurriyat is holding an emergency meeting on Monday at its headquarters to decide whether to take part in the roundtable conference convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on May 24 and 25.

The amalgam had skipped the first meeting held in Delhi.

Mirwaiz said that the Hurriyat was all for dialogue process to resolve Kashmir issue "but the Indian government should hold talks with separatist leadership as the mainstream politicians are supportive of Indian position".

Without naming People's Democratic Party, which has been claiming credit for the headway made by India and Pakistan on Kashmir, the Hurriyat chairman said that the dialogue process had been possible because of the sacrifices of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"The confidence building measures like opening of roads between the two Kashmir have been successful due to the support of the people. No party can claim the credit for it," he said.
