Hurriyat will not attend PM's roundtable

Constituents of the Hurriyat Conference felt that it would "harm" the dialogue process and "is bound to create confusion".

The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Monday rejected the invitation for Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's roundtable conference on the Kashmir issue.

The Prime Minister has called for a roundtable meeting on February 25.

Constituents of the Hurriyat Conference unanimously decided not to attend the conference as they felt that it would "harm" the dialogue process and "is bound to create confusion", Mirwaiz told reporters.

Earlier in the day, a joint meeting of the Hurriyat's executive council, working committee and general council was held in Srinagar.
