Maharashtra Navnirman Sena suffered another jolt on Sunday when its two senior leaders, husband wife duo Sanjay and Sanjana Ghadi quit the party to join the Shiv Sena.

The reason — Sanjay was upset on not being offered the Dindoshi Assembly seat he aspired for. Raj Thackeray, the party chief, was considering offering it to Shalini Thackeray, his close relative.

“Sanjay has a good following unlike others who quit recently,” said a party member, requesting anonymity.
Sanjay was the general secretary of the party and looked after the Konkan region while his wife was vice-president of the women’s wing.
