She flaunts a thong inside her sari, is seductive and answers all sex-related queries of university students out of ‘experience’. If you thought this could work only in universities abroad, you’ll be surprised to know how bold our very own DU has become.
Meet ‘Sex Amma’, Delhi University’s new-age sex-counsellor. DU Beat, the university’s student newspaper, on its website, describes sex amma as ‘wrapped in a crisp, golden-bordered traditional Keralite nine-yard; hair glistening with coconut oil and twirled in a garland of mullapuh (white jasmines); a dab of kumkum on her forehead, as she sits among aromatic candles and mountains of books on the most tabooed subject — SEX’.
No one in DU knew who she is — till now. HT City tracked down ‘sex amma’ from her secret hide-out and bring you her very first interview, albeit on condition that her true identity is revealed. “No one knows I am the very popular ‘sex amma’. Not my friends, not my teachers, not even my parents,” says ‘amma’, all of 19 years herself.
“I have to stay anonymous. All you can know about me is that I come from the backwaters of Kerala.” Amma says that she loves being a sex guru for young students. “I feel cool answering questions about sex. More than anything else, I have become open to answering questions about myself. Students write in wanting to know about me! They ask me questions like ‘Amma, show me your moves’ and ‘Amma, what are your sizes?’ Whatever that means.”

Interestingly, the concept of sex amma was borne out of Savita bhabhi, the recently banned online porn queen. Kriti Gupta, publisher of DU Beat says, “Savita bhabhi was very popular and we wanted to do something with it without the pornographic part. So sex amma was born. She keeps undergoing a makeover. Till sometime ago, she used to flaunt her cleavage and now it’s the thong.” What will it be next?
