According to Hollywood.com, a prank press release that had major grammatical and spelling mistakes reported that Ferrell had died in San Diego. The actor's publicist said: "Not much to say other than we heard and read about it this morning and reacted accordingly. There was no point in trying to track (the source) down as it was obviously a hoax."

"I have no knowledge of Will Ferrell paragliding," Josh Meyers, owner of the paragliding company stated.
