"The talaq (divorce) given by me is valid. If she wants she can challenge this in a court," he said adding he had consulted his lawyers before divorcing Fiza.

"I have snapped all ties with her," Mohan, elder son of former Chief Minister and Haryana Janhit Congress MP Bhajan Lal, said in his first media interaction at his Panchkula residence after he left the city in January.

On the rape charge levelled by Fiza against him in a police complaint, he said "you (the public) can judge the character of a woman yourself who levels rape charge against her own husband."

The complaint was not worth taking note of, Mohan said.

On Monday, Fiza, reacting to reports that Chand was likely to reach his Panchkula residence in a day or two, said she would welcome him by flinging shoes.

"How much security he may arrange and whatever action I may face, I will go to Panchkula on his arrival and hurl shoes at him," she told the press conference at his Mohali residence here.

To a question, Mohan, a Congress MLA from Kalka, said he was still a Congressman and would soon make himself available to people of his constituency.
