I?ll pursue IT College case after poll: CM

CHIEF MINISTER Mulayam Singh Yadav has assured that he would try his best to help the Isabella Thoburn College get the status of deemed university. He said once the local bodies election was over, he would seriously pursue the matter and try to fulfill the long-pending demand of the college.

Inaugurating a function at the IT College to mark the 150th years of Methodism in India, the CM said: “No decision can be taken in helping IT College to get deemed university status at present as the State Election Commission has banned the government from taking any major decisions.” But he reiterated that once the election was over he would take up the matter.

The CM appreciated the efforts of Christian minorities in spreading education.

Pointing to Kanya Vidhya Dhan Yojana, Yadav said his government gave priority to education. He exhorted educational institutions to raise their voice against growing incident of violence against women. He said academicians should take the onus of making a better society. He also expressed serious concern over incidents of female foeticides. “If female foeticide is not stopped then it will result in imbalance in the society,” he said.

Bishop SR Thomas lauded the CM for contributing to the uplift and welfare of women. Delegates and Christians took out a procession from Dua Ka Ghar to IT College. An exhibition is being held on the contributions of the Methodist Church.
MCI general secretary EP Samuel, principal IT College Dr ES Charles and Lucknow Christian College principal BP Masih was present at the function.
