Besides Ravindar, the agency has also arrested P Kishore, managing director (MD) of Everonn Education Limited, a private firm that provides education through Internet and V-SAT.

Another man, Uttam Chand Bohra, has been arrested as well.

Ravindar has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

According to a CBI spokesperson, on August 4, Ravindar had organised a search and survey at Everonn. During the search, it was found Kishore had concealed taxable income to the tune of Rs 116 crore. The MD then contacted Ravindar through a chartered accountant and asked him to reduce the income tax liability to Rs 60 crore in exchange for a bribe of Rs 50 lakh.

Accordingly, Rs 50 lakh was allegedly delivered to Ravindar's home. Ravindar wanted to transport the cash from his home to some unknown place through a private person.

The CBI has conducted searches in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Vizag, Bangalore and Chennai. Rs 48 lakh has been seized from the home of Bohra and Rs 10 lakh from other places. Gold jewellery weighing 1.8 kg was seized from the home of Ravindar, the CBI said in a press statement.
