The popular Step Up series of dance films, which saw its first part release in 2006, is now on to the fourth — Step Up Revolution. And leading the cast is a very unlikely pair — one popular, established choreographer with a sportsman-turned supermodel-turned actor.

Ryan Guzman, who dreamed of playing Major League Baseball some day, reveals, “I wanted to be a left-handed pitcher for the Yankees, but I hurt my arm and underwent a surgery. So I had to venture out and do other things.”

But wasn’t it scary for the newbie to match steps with Kathryn (McCormick, co-star), a professional choreographer on hit show So You Think You Can Dance? “Not really! I think working with her and the team kind of pushed me to another level. I improved as a dancer without even realising it,” smiles Ryan. “I’ve always had rhythm in me. Besides, playing sports has made me competitive and I wanted to learn everything. Eventually, the makers decided to do away with the body double they thought I would need.”

Taking up this offer was easier for her because “it was like dancing coming in the guise of a movie,” but Kathryn doesn’t know what kinds of roles she’ll get in the future.

Shoot the same question at Ryan and he admits that he isn’t sure about what he wants to do next.

“I do have an offer for a romantic movie, but I don’t know what I’m going to do with it. I’ve never stuck to a plan or decided what I want to do next,” he claims.
