A decision in this regard was taken at the executive committee meeting of the UP IAS Association that met here today. As per the decision, the three-member committee would prepare a representation on the issues concerning service conditions along with recommendations to be put up before the 6th Pay Commission. The State Government would, however, put up its case through the Central IAS Association, said the UP IAS Association Secretary Sanjay Bhus Reddy.

The Association has also decided to hold the annual Civil Service Week in mid of December 2006. As per the decision, the association would request the Chief Minister to allocate time for senior administrative officers conference organised annually as part of the Civil Service Week.

A reason to smile

The smile, which crossed the face of the elderly villagers from Banda when principal secretary social welfare department DC Lakha paid Rs 1000 to buy a hand-made bullock cart from them, was to be seen and believed at the UP Sangeet Natak Akademi auditorium on Tuesday.

Lakha was the chief guest at the state-level advocacy workshop organised by HelpAge India under the Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) programme and assured all help to the elderly who had turned up from the three most backward districts of UP — Banda, Barabanki and Unnao — to attend the function.
