IBM on Wednesday announced a new global business solution centre in Bangalore that the company said will enable it to provide its clients worldwide with a range of high-value solutions.
The Bangalore centre will allow IBM consultants to develop and deploy solutions in over 50 key business areas such as consumer-driven supply chain optimisation, banking risk and compliance and retail merchandising, said a company statement. IBM expects to invest more than $200 million, per year to develop, enhance and market these solutions.
With this centre, IBM will create and enhance a portfolio of replicable industry solutions that are developed by combining the strengths of IBM's business consulting, research, software, systems, engineering, and emerging technologies, a company statement said.
These new solutions will be built on IBM's Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) methodology and in collaboration with IBM clients and business partners, it said.
"At the global business solutions centre, IBM is embedding a range of high-value capabilities such as consulting, research and emerging technologies into easily managed reusable tools that can be delivered globally," said Amitabh Ray, Director of Global Delivery, IBM India.
"In doing so, we are creating a new model for delivering consulting services that will allow our clients to have greater access to innovative solutions for solving their most important business issues," he said.
One example of a solution being enhanced at the centre is the IBM Dynamic Inventory Optimisation solution that is designed to enable an organisation to better manage its supply chain, according to the company statement.
Additional examples of replicable solutions being developed and managed at the centre include property and casualty claims processing for the insurance industry, tax and audit compliance, fraud and abuse management for health care billing and secure trade lane for real-time cargo shipment information, it said.
"In doing so, we are creating a new model for delivering consulting services that will allow our clients to have greater access to innovative solutions for solving their most important business issues," he said.

The launch of the centre expands IBM's presence in India, a fast-growing market where IBM has over 38,500 employees, advanced software, services and research centres of excellence and where IBM has invested in companies like Daksh and Network Solutions, it was stated.
