Id celebrated with gaiety

ID-UL-FITR WAS celebrated with gaiety and fervour in various parts of the State on Tuesday. In Varanasi the Shia community celebrated the festival by offering Namaz at different mosques. Since early morning, members of Shia community started thronging mosques at Kazi Sadulhpura, Asna Asri Madni, Masjid Al Kayam, Matakunda Masjid, Rahmat Ali, Ordely Bazar based Mosque, Arif Ki Masjid, Chauhata Lal Masjid, Jafer Bkhta Masjid, Bakaytula Masjid, Hafiz Ysuf Masjid, Phatman based Masjid, Ansar Nagar Nakhi.

In Varanasi the Shia community celebrated the festival by offering Namaz at different mosques.

Since early morning, members of Shia community started thronging mosques at Kazi Sadulhpura, Asna Asri Madni, Masjid Al Kayam, Matakunda Masjid, Rahmat Ali, Ordely Bazar based Mosque, Arif Ki Masjid, Chauhata Lal Masjid, Jafer Bkhta Masjid, Bakaytula Masjid, Hafiz Ysuf Masjid, Phatman based Masjid, Ansar Nagar Nakhi.

The first holy prayer of Namaz was performed at the mosque of Kazi Saddhalpura on 7.30 am while the last prayer was held at Karbala based Mosque in Dulhipur area at 11 am.

Similarly, members of Shia community offered Namaz at different mosques in Ramnagar such as Hazrat Belala Jama Masjid, Idgah Masjid of Machcharhata, Rahamtullah Masjid, Jama Maszid of Rampur, Idgah in Panchvati etc.

Clad in new dresses and sporting different designs of caps, the Namazis offered prayer under the supervisions of clerics at the mosque. Kids were dressed up in attractive dresses.

After offering Namaz, people hugged each other and exchanged best wishes for Id-ul-Fitr.

Police administration had ensured tight security arrangement at sensitive places and near mosques to allow smooth passage to devotees and to avert any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, in Gorakhpur, the festival was celebrated with gaiety and fervour on Tuesday.

The confirmation of visibility of Id ka Chand at late night added more colours to the festival. People rushed to the market soon after the announcement made by Pesh Imam Jama Masjid, Urdu Bazar Maulana Abdul Jalil Mazahiri. Muslims offered Namaz at Idgaah and various mosques and greeted each other. Members of other community were also in state of confusion over the Id celebration and they came to know on Tuesday morning that Id was being celebrated today.

Earlier confusion prevailed over sighting of moon and till 11 pm no announcement was made from the Chand Committee. Pesh Imam Jama Masjid and most of the people had made up their mind to perform fast for one more day but the sudden announcement enlightens them with pleasure and people thronged the market.

Though few residents of Rasoolpur locality and Gorakhnath area have claimed that they witnessed the Chand and they have duly informed it to the Pesh Imam Mazahiri. But the announcement was not made as Pesh Imam was in trying to confirm the sighting of moon with other sources.

According to report a surgeon belong to district was in Lucknow on intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. He heard the announcement made by Firangi mosques regarding sighting of moon and celebration of Id on Tuesday. He informed it to his friends in Gorakhpur and soon after his information the people rush to the Jama Masjid. Later Pesh Imam made telephonic contact with Maulana Khalid Rashid and confirmed it.

Then he convened a meeting, which later decided to celebrate Id on Tuesday.

After the announcement the roads come alive in wee hours and peoples rushed to the market for the last minute purchase. Huge rush was witnessed at Shahmaroof, Reti road, Nakhas Chowk and Ghanta Ghar where people were busy purchasing footwear, readymade dress, caps, bungles and perfumes.

Delivering his views on this occasion at Idgaah Beniganj Maulana Junaid Alam said Id does not demand display of wealth.

The real pleasure of Id was sharing the joy with the economically weak people.
Maulana said for pleasure and prosperity, peace is necessary and appealed the members of both the communities to maintain communal harmony and to foil all the attempt by certain forces to divide society.

Muslims offered Namaz at Idgaah Mubarak Khan Shaheed, Bale Ka Maidan, Idgaah Gorakhnath and Jama Masjid Urdu Bazar along with other mosques. Elaborate security arrangements were made near mosques and Idgaah at the time of Namaz.

Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam has also made special sanitation drive near Eidgaah on occasion of Id.
