The go-ahead came at a meeting of the IDA board of directors (BoD), which unveiled a Diwali bonanza comprising a slew of housing and road infrastructure tasks totalling over Rs 17 crore.

The BoD gave the administrative nod for constructing a 45-metre-wide road (MR-3) connecting AB Road to Scheme No 162 (Regional Park). The 1250-m long road, boasting two carriageways for cars and two-wheelers and a 3.5 metre track reserved for buses, is estimated to cost Rs 7.89 crore.

It also gave the green signal for laying a 30 m wide road between Scheme 78 and 114 at a cost of Rs 2.25 crore and cleared the decks for a repair and strengthening package of the western Ring Road estimated to cost Rs 4.12 crore.

Construction of a suspension bridge across the Khan River from Sanjay Setu to Krishnapura chhatris (cenotaphs) as proposed by the Anand Mohan Mathur Charitable Trust at cost of Rs 40.83 lakh and installation of a life-sized statue of freedom fighter Mishrilal Gangwal were among the other proposals for which the Board gave administrative sanction.

Among the residential land parcels the biggest earners were 14 plots in Scheme 114 part 1 which netted the IDA Rs 300.67 lakh while 15 land parcels in Scheme 97-IV yielded Rs 300 lakh. Among plots earmarked for educational purposes two land parcels in Scheme 114 part 1 netted the Authority a mammoth Rs 700 lakh.

Collector Vivek Aggarwal, Chairman Madhu Verma, Chief Executive Officer C B Singh, Joint Director Town and Country Planning R Sanwalkar and other board members were among those present at the meeting.
