IED recovered in Assam, woman ULFA cadre, three linkmen held

A group of people spotted the IED on the occasion of the ULFA's 'Raising Day' and informed forces who defused it.

An improvised explosive device weighing 10 kg was recovered from Assam's Sibsagar district during beefed up combing operations on the occasion of the ULFA's 'Raising Day' on Saturday.

The IED was found under a bridge near Baiganbari village under Sonari police station after a group of people spotted it and informed the security forces who later defused it, officials said.

In another incident, an ULFA woman cadre Iramoni Konwar was arrested from Jogibari village in Golaghat district, they said.
She had returned from Myanmar after receiving training there last year and was living in the village since then.

Three ULFA linkmen, who provided SIM cards to the militants, were also arrested from Sarupathar village of Golaghat district during counter-insurgency operations, they added.
