PM Narendra Modi's love for social media seems to have rubbed off on other government organisations as well. Now IFFI 2014, organised by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has started a new initiative, Talkathon@IFFI to ensure film buffs from around the world are able to stay connected to the marquee festival.
It was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Tuesday. "Talkathon would enable global audience to interact with the film personalities present at IFFI, Goa through the social media platforms of I&B Ministry within specific time period," he said.
As part of the initiative, the organisers invite questions on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube for a panel of filmmakers, actors and festival organizers through tweets or Facebook posts. The programme, anchored by Rahul Agarwal and Santosh Ajmera, is aired on the I&B YouTube Channel live at 4.30 p.m.
For its inaugural session, director David Dhawan, TV artist Prachi Shah, anchor-actor Manish Paul and Chilean actor Loreto Aravena answered queries posted on various social media platforms by fans. It was followed by another session in which IFFI director Shankar Mohan, actors Nana Patekar and Vinay Pathak took part. Filmmaker Govind Nihalani and documentary filmmaker Mike Pandey fielded questions from fans in the third session.
