Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), which holds the event, also said that Finland-based mobile communications giant Nokia will be the exclusive associate sponsor of the fashion week - Aug 30 to Sep 4.

"The event is truly dedicated to the business of fashion. This is why we have added an extra day - Sep 4 - totally dedicated to business opportunities," said Ritu Kumar, noted designer and president of FDCI.

The fashion week aims to gain recognition from buyers and retailers as the single-largest business-to-business platform for the fashion design industry, FDCI officials told reporters here.

Over 75 designers are expected to participate in the event including Rina Dhaka, J.J. Valaya and Tarun Tahiliani.

Nokia marketing director Devinder Kishore also announced that his company will be creating a collection of luxury handsets for the event in association with designer Ashish Soni.
