Amrata Pancholi, 32, was found on Friday morning in her ground floor flat, where she was staying alone, the police said.

A preliminary probe showed signs of a struggle and indicated that she was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon at 12 places.

The attacker had rummaged through her house but the motive behind the murder could not be ascertained by the police.

Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of her been killed by someone known to her.

Sources close to her family claimed she was receiving “unwanted calls” for past two months.
