Chand Pasha, 35, picked up on Sunday, was being questioned by investigators, said a police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to talk to the media.

The latest arrest brings to seven the number of suspects detained in connection with the December 28 attack on the IISc in which gunmen opened fire on a group of people coming out of a seminar, killing a retired professor.

The officer said Pasha was suspected of giving money to Abdul Rehman, who police say heads the southern Indian operations of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The police said the shooting was the first of several attacks the terrorists planned to carry out on scientific and technology centres.
