Seven country-made pistols seized

Special Operation Group (SOG) men busted a racket in the sale of illegal arms in the city with the arrest of two youngsters.
They also recovered seven countrymade pistols from their possession along with cartridges.
These weapons had been manufactured in district Etah of UP. Deepak Shukla, a resident of Rajrooppur and student of National Inter College, Bharwari, in adjoining Kaushambi district was nabbed along with Pratap Narain Pathak alias Pintu, a resident of Gangaganj. Pintu is a student of Jagpatsingh Singraur Degree College.
Police, however, could not arrest the kingpin of the racket Mohit, a resident of Meerapur.
Police said, both the youngsters had recently been initiated into this racket of getting the illegal arms from Etah after paying Rs 1200 per piece. The same were sold locally between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,300 depending upon the deal.
The weapons mostly .315 bore pistols with perfect finish are considered deadly due to the rifle bullet used in them. Police admitted that the arrested youths were not having any past criminal record but had gone wayward. Friends of Mohit both Deepak and Pintu had gone to Etah only a few times. The idea of making a few hundred bucks following the sale of weapons had clicked to these youngsters and nothing beyond this, admitted cops. But then they had been 'selling death' and that is why a trap had been laid to arrest them, said CO (crime) Rahul Srivastava.
SOG team consisting Nawab Khan, Pawan Pradhan, Narendra Saini, Suresh Singh, Jagdish Singh, Ram Dinesh Tewari and Phulchand led by incharge Manoj Raghuvanshi had laid the trap. A few of them had gone as decoy customers to purchase the weapons.
