After a long wait the district administration has finally swing into action for the demarcation of forestland allegedly encroached upon by a firm, Indian Technomac Private Limited, located at Jagatpura in Paonta Sahib.
Sources with the administration said Sirmour deputy commissioner Vikas Labroo had ordered the Paonta Sahib SDM to complete the demarcation of the forestland within 15 days so that further action could be taken in this connection.
Hindustan Times first highlighted the issue on Sunday. Notably, the issue of demarcation of the forestland has pending for over one and a half years.
Taking a serious note of the purchase of agriculture land by the industry Himachal chief minister Virbhadra Singh during one of his public meetings had directed Labroo to submit a report in this connection to him within seven days.
Notably, the forest department had lodged a criminal case against the firm for alleged encroachment on 12 bighas on January 8. In the meantime, the forest department charged the revenue department with not taking interest in demarcation the land.
It was pleaded that the land has been overlapping in two revenue mauja's, and thus, there has been confusion over the demarcation. Meanwhile, additional divisional magistrate (ADM) Manmohan Sharma admitted that the order for filing of the report with thin 15 days was issued to the Paonta Sahib SDM.
