The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) removed on Wednesday several encroachments which had mushroomed on HUDA lands along the Golf Course road.
Early on the day, the HUDA squad reached the spot with the heavy police force and four JCB machines and several trucks to carry the demonstration drive.
For the squad, it took entire day to complete the drive as the prime HUDA lands had been encroached by big mafia who had managed to gather hundreds of locals to dissuade the squad.

The restaurants, shops, and dhabas all had majorly come up there and also some small temples by locals in attempt acquire the prime locations.
“In the name of religious sites, such people run business, corrupt locality and we have information that they also used to sell wine, bears and bhang etc. We removed them and other mafia masters also who had been enjoying huge profit from government lands,” said Praveen Kumar, who has till date cleared nearly 55 acres of HUDA from encroachers in the city.
The entire service lane — of Golf Course Road — was badly encroached by small time vendors, shop keepers and locals and they together had protested the drive. “I warned them to remove their valuable stuff as I did not want to damage their stuff and hurt their sentiments, but many of them did not follow my order and I was forced to threaten them,” said the administrator.
