FIRST THE facts. Over 190 officials and employees are currently posted on deputation to the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC). However, had the question been posed to civic body mandarins before Thursday chances are that it would have gone unanswered.
The information only surfaced after a Vidhan Sabha query by Sonkatch MLA Sajjan Singh Verma seeking the number, post, duration and parent department of officials currently posted on deputation to the IMC.
Corporation officials were thrown into a tizzy by the poser as the General Administration Department (GAD) hadn’t bothered to update records of officials hailing from other departments.
In the absence of proper records IMC officials worked until almost 2 am on Wednesday to collate the information so that it could be forwarded to the Vidhan Sabha secretariat on time.
According to sources the difficulty was compounded by the fact that in many cases the IMC administration had no clue about the parent department of the official posted on deputation.

{{/usCountry}}When contacted Additional Municipal Commissioner Kumar Purshottam bluntly refused to confirm or deny the reports. “I am not compelled to divulge any information regarding Vidhan Sabha questions”, he declared and refused further comment.
‘Officials flouting law’
Sonkatch MLA Sajjan Singh Verma said that he raised the question after receiving reports that a large number of officials sent on deputation to the IMC were continuing in their posts despite having exceeded the governmental deadline.
