THE INDORE Municipal Corporation (IMC) will organise a ‘Vijay Diwas’ function to commemorate India’s historic victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war at Gandhi Hall on December 17 at 6 pm.

Lt General Satvir Yadav will be chief guest, Maj Gen K R Bhatti, VSM, the distinguished guest AND IMC Speaker Shankar Lalwani has been asked to attend the function as a special invitee. Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma will preside over the proceedings.
Mayor-in-Council member in charge of Education Department Devkrishna Sankhla informed that an arms and ammunition exhibition by the armed forces would be organised as part of the Vijay Diwas celebrations.
The IMC would also organise an inter-school debate on whether or not atomic weapons should be used during war at Malhar Ashram Higher Secondary School on December 12. This would be followed by a national song singing competition and an essay on compulsory conscription the following day at the same venue. A painting competition would be organised on December 14 from 9:30 am onwards at Gandhi Hall on December 14.
The winners and runners-up of all the competitions would be awarded prizes during the main celebration on December 17, revealed Sankhla.
