On the suggestion of the members, the meeting also held discussions about connecting villages with populations of 500 to 1000 by roads. Principal Secretary, Padamveer Singh informed that about 30000 km roads would have to be constructed for this.

The department is considering constructing gravel roads with the financial assistance of Madhya Pradesh Rural Development Department. Its cost would be Rs.5 to 6 lakh per km, he added. He informed the members that the Central Government is considering the proposal for a four-lane road from Jhansi to Khajuraho.

Vijayawargiya directed to maintain all main district roads on priority and to prepare proposal for road construction wherever necessary. He asked to construct a road in every assembly constituency.

The meeting also discussed average length of roads and formulation of a policy of granting sanction for road construction only after assessment of the geographical conditions. The minister directed the officers to produce required information on the proposals of the members.
