Imran Farhat had a fantastic start to his career and at one stage threatened to solve Pakistan's opening problem, after Saeed Anwar's retirement.
But a consant habit of throwing away his wicket whenever set, prompted the Pakistan selectors to drop him during '00-'01 season.
However, he tightened his game and achieved much more success in the 2003-04 season. Tempering his impressive array of shots with better defensive technique, Farhat scored a deluge of runs in the home series against South Africa and New Zealand.
But as if inevitable, he has fallen away since the induction of another left-hand talent Salman Butt.
He has a tough competition with Yasser Hameed, since Butt has more or less cemented his place in the international circuit.
