Shweta Mishra, Mamta Sharma and Khadija Khan could be seen giving tips to boys in cricket and the learners take tips quite seriously.
Shweta has represented Arera Cricket Academy boy’s team in a number of tournaments. She has also represented the State in national-level tournaments.
Her coach Suresh Chenani sees in Shweta great potential to outshine boys. International cricketer JP Yadav is quite impressed by Shweta’s prowess and skills.
In a recent interview to the Hindustan Times, JP Yadav remarked he was surprised to learn that this girl represented boys’ team.
Mamta Sharma and Khadija Khan at Sardar Patel Cricket Academy (SPCA) are the other shining examples of girl power at local-level.
“They are awesome players who have the potential to beat boys,” said their coach Shailesh Shukla. They can be seen giving tips to the boys at the nets. Mamta has represented the State in national tournaments. Khadija recently represented the State in the school national tournament.
Boys in the two academies accepted that these girls have the necessary cricketing skills to challenge them. “I am a regular member of SPCA. On many occasions, they (the girls) sent ball out of the ground,” said Sameer. Such is the passion among these girls for cricket that they never miss practice.
